Owned and operated by the city of Dallas, the South Dallas Cultural Center was built in 1986 as an arts center with an African American focus. With a wide variety of programs inspired by the vibrancy and diversity of the African Diaspora, the South Dallas Cultural Center seeks to educate and inspire through the visual, media, literary and performing arts.
With that being said, the Tignon exhibit opened in September, and the foot traffic through this exhibit has not been slowing down by any stretch of the imagination.

Tignon pronounced [teyôN] in French means cloth or handkerchief and is used to reference the headwraps of Creole women. It’s presented by Dallas based artist Chesley Antoinette through fashion photography of wearable, sculptural turbans, which were popular during the historical period of the 18th century.

This exhibition is free and open to the public!

At Oxford at Lake View Apartments in Corinth, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
